Missouri Highway 36 “The Way of American Genius” carries more than 9,000 vehicles past the Marceline exit each day (approximately 4,500 in each direction). To help drive tourism into Marceline, especially from travelers who may not yet know about our Walt Disney connection and the many unique offerings in our town, the Marketing Marceline Committee has been exploring the idea of installing a nearby billboard.
The closest available location for an eastbound-facing billboard is the old digital sign near our exit, which has been out of operation for several years. We’re in discussions with Robert Schmitt of Schmitt’s Building and Rental Center, about securing the eastbound-facing side to install a large vinyl wrap billboard, covering the old digital panels – a common and effective format. The rental cost is $150 per month, paid annually ($1,800), and the cost to print the vinyl wrap is estimated at $1,000, bringing the total project cost to $2,800. The installation is expected to remain in place and provide consistent visibility for approximately three years.
The Marceline Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Marceline are contributing to this project to renew our community’s presence along Highway 36, helping welcome visitors and support our local economy.
While both organizations are committed to promoting Marceline, we’re inviting local businesses to join us in this effort through cash donations. Your financial support will help attract more visitors, stimulate local commerce, and ensure Marceline remains a vibrant and thriving destination. Together, we can make a lasting impact on our beloved town.
